My review of the Hard Rock Hotel and Resort, Punta Cana, DR, Oct 4th-8th 2012
My visit to the Hard Rock generated mixed opinions of the resort.
While it is a beautiful, contemporary resort, it seems like it belongs inVegas, rather than the Caribbean.
For those looking for that experience, this is the place to be.
The main building offers many options for dining, shopping and nightlife.
My experience with dining was mediocre at best. The buffet at Caio was fine for breakfast and lunch, but the food is very repetitious. The ala carte restaurants were far from gourmet and left you wondering who was the chef here.
The entertainment was actually pretty good. Some real headliners here. The casino and nightclub were definitely high end and real Vegas. Lots of bars to chose from!
A few pools to choose from around the property. Bartenders at the swim up bars were pretty inattentive, and the drinks were just ok. No premium liquor, even those prices are.
Great kids water park at one end of the property It seems they try and keep families in one area of the resort. Good move.
All the rooms are first class, clean and very contemporary.
The resort was spread out and it was a long walk from my room to the pool and beach. Shuttle service is available throughout the resort. The layout is a bit confusing.
The spa is first class. One of the best experiences ever!
Resort credit is included with the price. $750 for a 4 night stay and $1500 per room for 5 nights or longer. Great added value. It can be used toward several different venues. Spa included.
Unlimited calls to US and Canada and wifi is complimentary. Big plus!
So, if you're looking for a real Vegas experience in the Caribbean, but dont care much about the food, it's here for you!
